Carlos’ Real Estate is a site-specific performance project in which I impersonate a real estate agent trying to rent or sell different art venues across the Netherlands. The performance comprehends a house viewing in which through the visit I describe the different changes that the future owners or renters have to make in the building to transform it in a business unrelated to art or a liveable space as well as the costs and the buying and contract conditions. This project is a call to rise awareness on the vulnerability of art spaces as well as other non-profit institutions colliding with the interests of a voracious speculative real estate market and the housing business.
