Orangeland
Multidisciplinary project, 2024-2026
‘Orangeland’ is a two-years research on a globalize economy with the orange as a centre point. A travel from the fields of Egypt, Italy, Morocco, Peru, South Africa, Spain or Zimbabwe to the table of the customers in Arnhem (a small city in The Netherlands). This project is divided in four chapters: Chapter 3: Import and Chapter 4: Consumption, Chapter 1 and 2 are still in progress.
Chapter 3: Import
Through the discarded boxes that I collected across the city of Arnhem, it is possible to map the origins of the oranges, the companies that intervine in this process, the variety of fruit and the post-harvest treatment. With the gesture of scanning and enlarging this details the viewer is able to travel across the prints of seven different boxes that represent one of the seven countries that I found out that import this fruit to Arnhem. This prints are in the intersection of photography, ready-made and appropriation art.
Chapter 4: Consumption
Exploring the differences of consuming oranges between The Netherlands and my homecountry I unveiled to two different performances: “Sit & Sip” and “Formes de menjar la taronja”, this last one co-authored with Ana Arbona Bolufer and Eva Arbona Bolufer.
